It’s time to stand up.
TS TIME TO STAND UP
Deb Peacock
Jesus many times told people to stand up before giving them the next instruction. He sometimes said arise or get up and come here, get up and walk. I’m sure the person would have known that to walk home or come here they first needed to stand up so why did Jesus specifically say to stand up or arise? He was bringing attention to the conscious decision required to intentionally stand up first before going and doing the instructed steps.
Standing up means moving the body into an upright position and becoming up right. Becoming in right position.
How often do we want God to heal us and tell us where to go or what to do without listening to the first instruction to stand up. We need to remember who he is and how his grace has saved us, that our whole life is based on his truth love and grace as a firm foundation. When we remember all this, how much more prepared will we be to then run out the steps he has for us ahead? What joy there will be in the stepping and running if we are doing it from the solid base underneath us, from the support of God who is the same yesterday today and forever.
God put people into standing up position. He told Ezekiel to stand up and then lifted him to standing up position. (Ezekiel 2:2) He took people by the hand and pulled them up as he said to stand up. God is the one who bring us into right standing in life, because of Jesus dying on the cross. So it’s not our effort to get us into right standing but our willingness to stand and our belief that he is the foundation for our lives to be built on - Jesus does the rest.
For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. Romans 11:36
Before you be concerned about what to do in life, first stand up - hear Jesus saying arise and let his hand take yours to stand you up. Realise who God is as the Lord and Saviour of the entire world and he is the solid rock on which you stand.
