God makes his heart know to our heart
God speaks to the heart, heart to heart.
Deb Peacock
Sometimes when we have been in a hard space for a long time, we have tried a lot of things and learnt much about our problem. We know more than most people around us and their suggestions can seem simple and frustrating. We can see what needs to happen and yet it hasn’t happened. It doesn’t make sense.
The Lord is pointing out fresh that he speaks from his heart and we are made to speak from our heart.
When we know so much about something we have often run ahead with our head to the future to where we think we should be by now. But we have left our heart behind. Over time the distance between our head and heart can become bigger and bigger. We begin to think we are positioned where our head is - that that is where we are on the path. Actually, we are where our heart is, and it might be quite a bit back up the path, maybe even out of sight.
For the real healing to occur, for the real progress to be made, we have to speak to the Lord from our heart. This can be hard when we can’t even see where our heart is anymore as we’ve run ahead so far. It means, we need to take the humble way, and back track to where our heart is, and to do this we have to admit we left our heart behind and see that we aren’t as far along as we thought.
The wonderful thing about the humble way though, is that this is where the Lord’s words make sense. Because he speaks to our heart. This is where we can connect with him. This is where we can know that he cares for us.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
It might be time to admit to the Lord that while you feel you know an awful lot about the situation at hand, the situation is still a problem so you don’t know it all. He knows it all and he is speaking to your heart. It’s time to go back to your heart, let it speak, let it be known to the Lord. There you will find nourishment for your soul, care and kindness, compassion. The connection will bring joy and therefore strength for the road ahead.
