Trust the Lord without assumptions
When the Lord gives you a word or a promise, believe it! But don’t assume to know how it will come about.
Deb Peacock
Often when God gives us a word or a promise about our lives or a situation, we very quickly assume we know how that will come about. When the people we expect to be involved don’t act, and the time passes when we thought it would happen we can easily fall into disappointment. This is because our expectations have not been met. Sometimes we become disappointed in God and struggle to trust him with future things.
But remember - God’s ways are higher than our ways, his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. He is beyond us and his strategy and way of delivering the promise is often way outside our usual expected ways. He is so much more inventive, and creative than what we expect. He will have a way and the process that leads to the promise will be more amazing than we can imagine.
Recently we had a word from the Lord that we felt was very clear. Yet the time passed and the doors closed and we missed the opportunity. We were left wondering what had happened. We could only say that we didn’t know what had happened because God’s word to us had not come to pass. We could not see a possible way that the opportunity for us could be ours now. Two months later and through an option we would never have thought of, the opportunity represented and we were able to move forward and see the word of the Lord come to pass. Of course, the story is now more incredible and more reflective of the Lord at work!
Other promises we hold have not come to pass yet after many years but we can trust. His ways and his time is higher than ours - that means his ways and time is better than we can even imagine.
Trust in him, trust in his word, don’t assume and fall into disappointment. Trust in him.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
