Follow the Leader

LEADING WELL IS FOLLOWING WELL

Sometimes we forget that as a Christian, we are followers. We follow Jesus and Jesus is the way. We often celebrate being a leader and consider being a follower as weak. Following Jesus means we don’t follow others or other ways and this requires strength. In fact, to lead others well and be the leader that God calls us to, we need to teach others to follow Jesus. We lead by example, following Jesus. Jesus is my leader. He is my way forward. I follow him.

STEPPING OUT IS STEPPING IN

What freedom it brings when we are stepping into a new space, launching something not done before to know that we are not the first one there. Jesus is already there in front of us, because he is the way and he is leading the way. He goes before us and creates the space for us to step into. What comfort this brings! What confidence this brings! Thank the Lord for opening up that space and holding it there for us to step into.

I GO WHERE YOU GO JESUS

If Jesus is the way and he is always good, to go well in life we need to follow him and him alone. Jesus said he only does what he sees the Father doing (John 5:19-20). Following Jesus is an everyday, every step following where life is full of adventure and the seeing of impossibilities becoming possibilities; where we have support and strength, someone who goes with us and before us all the time. I will follow you wherever you go (Luke 9:57).
