To embrace him at the door we need to put our bags down
Deb Peacock
It’s ok that you come to God with lots of issues, problems, things that need resolution. He doesn’t mind. He is ready and waiting for you to come to his house. He is looking forward to you coming and is ready at the door. His gentle reminder is, though, that he wants to be together first. He wants to see you and be with you and show you he loves you. He hopes you love him too. So when you come to see him at his house, put your bags, that is your baggage of issues, problems, cares and worries down on the ground and take time to embrace with your father at the door. Take time to say hello, demonstrate you care and your love for him. Take time to stop for a moment to feel his care for you, his loving embrace, his hearty welcome at the door. Then after a time of greeting, move inside his house to catch up with your father. Have time together and share what’s going on. Ask God what is on his heart, what he cares about and show care for him too. This beautiful exchange all begins with the first thing - put your bags down so you can embrace the father at the door.
