God with us now

Yet greater things to come – the fusion of outcome and process.

God has greater things ahead for us and he wants more for us in the future and also more for us right now. We were made to dream with God and he speaks to us about what is ahead, what future good works we will get to do.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. ‭John‬ ‭14:12‬

NOW IS SIGNIFICANT

He gives us dreams and glimpses of what he wants for us so we can live in the faith hope and love he has for us. So we can embrace that we are purposeful and not meaningless. He doesn’t do this to say that all that is happening now is substandard and doesn’t matter but to show us that now is a part of something more, it is leading us into more and therefore NOW is significant. What we decide now is significant.

HUMILITY IS A KEY FOR PROGRESS

So often we hear of that future and just want that alone without the journey. We want outcome with no process. We reduce life lived with God to a future event as though that will be fulfilling for all of our life. We think “if only...” In doing so we then refuse to do the journey. This refusal to walk down humility lane that turns into humility street and then up to humility road means we won’t arrive to that future dream either.

Then he said to them all:

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:23

DON’T SETTLE FOR LESS

God created us for so much more than a massive future event or a series of big events. We aren’t objects or a flash in the pan. He created us for continual flourishing life that comes out everyday everywhere we go with him at our side. It’s humbling, continually humbling and we will see failures and knock backs that all get used for our good (Romans 8:28) to grow us in character and humility, growing us into the person he created us to be, where we do see those great events in the future.

The daily life lived with Jesus by our side is a humble life being who you are where you are. It’s where we flourish now in the everyday. It’s where where we enjoy his presence and step out as he calls, taking risks and being brave. It’s where you know HE is the WAY to going anywhere good.

No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. John 14:6

PROCESS AND OUTCOME ARE INSEPARABLE

While the process of walking humbly can be painstaking, it is good. God shows us glimpses of what is up ahead - the outcome to remind us the process is good. Keep your eyes on the outcome and humbly walk the process so that you can live in what God has for you:- the fusion of outcome and process. God with us now yet greater things to come.
