Grace protects

Deb Peacock

For those feeling unsafe, feeling ravaged by an onslaught of attack, of darkness, the Lord is for you and his grace protects. It is living in his grace where we find that sense of safety deep within that we are covered and that we can honestly say it is well with my soul. It is in his grace, where you can lay down your weapons of defence, those behaviours and attitudes to things that you have used to guard and protect yourself, because his grace is surrounding you as your protector.

You weren’t made to be isolated through self protection. You were made to be in community. When we put up our defences, we can block out bad things to an extent but we also block the good things we so desperately need as humans to live and thrive. Grace covers and brings goodness into our lives. Grace is Jesus’ gift to you where he took the attack of darkness on himself so you didn’t have to.

I recently had a vision with the Lord where I was standing alone and exposed. The darkness was in front of me and coming. It was reeling up for attack straight at me. In the moment the attack was coming to me, Jesus, without any weapons and with his skin exposed jumped in front of me into the firing line. He took the attack for me, and it cut him. It cut him right through and he fell to the ground with blood everywhere. He lay dead in front of me and he had saved me. As I cried out in sadness and shock that he did that, he reminded me that he comes back to life. I told him how badly I felt that he did that so I would be safe. And he responded, “you needed me to.” After a pause he said, “and I would do it a 1000 times again.”

It’s true, we need protection. Jesus died on the cross to deal with all sin and darkness. That includes that dark attack that is coming against us. He loves you so much he jumps in front into the firing line for you to guard you and keep you safe. It doesn’t mean bad things won’t happen and you won’t have to traverse difficulties, it means his grace takes you through, carries you, stays with you guarding you.

You don’t need your weapons of defence. Lay them down and be armed with his grace instead.

Titus 2:11

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people

Ephesians 2:8

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.
