Pressure is not your portion
PRESSURE IS NOT YOUR PORTION
Deb Peacock
For some weeks the Lord has been speaking to me about limits, yokes and pressures. He has been pointing out that there is a feeling of being restricted and intense pressure around people’s lives. They feel as though they just have to barge on and hit it head on to bust through it and once they break through they will be ok. But this sense of pressure and limitation or restriction being in front of you or on top of you is an illusion, for the pressure is on the inside of you.
COME WITH ME
That is why the Lord is saying come with me. Come with me off to the side. Just for a time step aside with me. And if the pressure has caused you to stop and fall down or sit down, it’s time to rise to come with God and be with him.
In Mark, the apostles came to Jesus to tell him what they had been doing but life around them was busy and full of pressure. It might have been that they couldn’t really catch up with Jesus. Jesus responded by saying “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. Mark 6:31-32
They chose to EXIT THE PRESSURE by being with Jesus. They stopped working and went with Jesus.
It is in this place with Jesus, where we can go without the pressure and noise and have a proper catch up. This means we can properly share what is in our heart with him - we will realise the real pressure, the one that is inside us and can let Jesus work that out of us.
Instead of pushing on today thinking it will all be fine when this issue in front of me at work, or that deadline is met, come with Jesus to the solitary place and let him work with the real pressure, the internal pressure that doesn’t have to be there anymore.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
