Why is God bringing up the old hurts?

You might have noticed that something from your past has come back to your mind, been in your thoughts again and its been shocking also that it seems like God is the one who has brought it up with you. Why would he do this?

This can be really confusing when God is meant to be good and loving. Naturally we can shut it down quickly and try to put it back away. We don’t want to go through that pain or experience that again.

We know from God’s word that God is always good, God is love, God has a hope and future for us and God is our healer. So when God brings up an old thing and it hurts where does this fit? God brings it up as he knows the right time for your healing. He will bring up something painful if it is time for healing for you. God knows you so well and he knows the journey you are on. He knows when you are ready to face the difficult thing that needs healing.

So instead of reactively trying to shut it down and remain consumed by just how painful it is, prepare yourself that God is God over everything in your life and he is healer. He is speaking to you now that it is time for healing to commence.

He isn’t bringing it up to hurt you or break you, he is bringing it up to free you and heal you. God can be trusted in everything he says and in everything he puts his finger on in your life. He has a future and a hope for you, not to harm you but to prosper you.

I pray you are encouraged today that if you realise he is raising a difficult issue to you, he believes you are ready to face it and receive his grace and healing on it so that you can be free.
