When we are in touch with our need for God we can wait for him.
I’ll only go if you come with me.
Waiting on the Lord
We need him so much more than we realise
Deb Peacock
Waiting for something, waiting for the door to open or seeing where we are going to go but have to sit and look at it without taking steps towards it can be so hard. But if we peel back to what true life looks like with God, we will know that he wants to do things with us, he wants to help us, he wants to empower us, he wants to be with us. We can see we need him. Oh how we need him. We would rather wait for when he says it’s time, than go it alone.
When Moses was with the Lord, the Lord told him he would go with him. Moses replied to God that if you don’t go with me there is no point to me going. Exodus 33:14-15
He was saying this to God not to force God to do something that God had already committed to, but because he was acutely aware of his need for God. He was so aware he was willing to abort the mission if he didn’t have God with him.
Sometimes we get so excited about a wonderful thing coming or so focussed on the achievement of that goal that we push for it to come into being. We can forget that it will go best if God is with us. We forget the everything we do is to be done from his empowerment, with his support.
While waiting is hard, the fulfilment of going well with God rather than making a mess on our own makes it all worth it. Oh how we need you God. King Jesus.
