You can trust God in the change

Unrecognised change has potential to wreak havoc. Recognised change is an opportunity to trust.

As the big season continues on with many changes, this current smaller season is full of many changes that are unspoken, unexpected, unexplainable, and unclear. For some, there is no logical order or progression happening as the change occurs and you feel lost with what is going on. For others you haven’t yet recognised that this change is happening, but you feel unsettled, stressed, or emotional. Some feel frustrated and want the change to stop and there’s a temptation to blame others that this change is occurring.

When changes are happening we have to be able to move with them and work with them. Because change can take us by surprise, can be out of our control and we feel the shaking and unsettling within us, we tend to think change is a bad thing and attempt to resist. Instead of fighting against it, we need to work with it and move. This is challenging. It can be hard to move on when we liked how it was before. It can be so hard to let go. It feels unfair to have to let go of something we thought worked well.

Resisting change often happens when we don’t recognise the change is happening. We want to feel stable and try to hold on and if we have had a sudden change we clutch trying to get things back to how they used to be. But this is a season with many changes.

A SEASON OF CHANGE MEAN IT’S A SEASON TO TRUST

The Lord is highlighting over and over on a small scale and on a large scale, to individuals and to groups, that we are learning to trust. We are learning to trust him beyond our understanding.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Some of the changes around us at this time are not our choice and they don’t make sense and we don’t even know what we are moving to. In the unknown space, we don’t know many things for sure but we know one thing for sure: God is with us and he knows all things. We can trust he knows all the parts and what is going on and he is with us. He never leaves us.

“…And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

I feel like God is saying, “YOU CAN TRUST ME IN THE CHANGES. I am not against you, not hurting you, I am growing you and I am showing you who I am. I am the great I am for you. I go before you and prepare the way. I am not complacent about things that are not right and not good. I am active, I am active on your behalf.”

It is time to trust in the Lord. Trust him with the small things and trust him with those huge looming things you can see on the horizon. Declare your trust in the Lord for he is faithful and he is just.

“But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.” Psalm 89:14
